A true pioneer of Italian modernism, Gio Ponti was to shape 20th century Italian design. A very strong influence notably because of his dynamism in the field, in fact in addition to being an architect and designer, he is also editor-in-chief of the design magazine Domus, which he created in 1928 and which will allow him to collaborate with many designers, such as Marco Zanuso, among others, then largely contributed to the establishment of the Compaso d’Oro prize and the Italian designers’ order.
Gio Ponti’s production includes many collector’s items, particularly those that are no longer in production. This is the case of the series of furniture, seats and desks, which he designed for the hotels Parco dei Principi in Sorrento and Rome.
