Little tulip chairs by Pierre Paulin for Artifort
The French designer Pierre Paulin (1927 – 2009) entertained a long collaboration with Artifort. He produced for the dutch manufacturer his most famous seating during the 60’s to the 70’s: Little Tulip, Mushroom, Tongue, Ribbon, etc. The pop, organic-shaped and comfy chairs are still produced.
Paulin was very inspired by his friend Verner Panton, Charles & Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen. The Little Tulip chair designed in 1965 is very much inspired by the tulip chair (Saarinen, Knoll) with its unique base. It is one of the first design Paulin made for Artifort, it remembers a blossoming flower and thus anticipates the hippie’s lifestyle.
