Ulmer Hocker by Max Bill for wb form.
The “Ulmer Hocker”, designed in 1954 by Max Bill in collaboration with the Dutch industrial designer Hans Gugelot for the students of the HfG Ulm and manufactured in the school’s workshops, has become a design classic. Light, robust and multifunctional, it can be used as a stool, side table or shelf. In Ulm, it was not uncommon to come across students using it as a book holder.
Max Bill (1908-1994) was one of the most important Swiss artists of the 20th century. He studied with Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, among others, and was a visual artist, designer, graphic artist and architect. In 1950, he co-founded the Ulm School of Design and designed its buildings.
The Swiss brand Wohnbedarf edition, wb form, is available at the Kissthedesign gallery in Lausanne.
